RangeForce was founded by three entrepreneurs who, as contractors, worked together to help create the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Center of Excellence (CCDCOE) cyber range, a safe “red team/blue team” space used to recreate realistic cyberattacks and improve the detection and containment operations for member nation cyber defense teams.
But creating a cyber range for the commercial world had two significant challenges. First, most organizations do not have the resources of NATO and cannot afford to create a physical cyber range. Second, NATO has extensive cyber training capabilities to prepare its members to train in that cyber range, and that is not the case with most businesses and local governments.
So in 2015, the founders create the RangeForce Cyber Skill Training Platform. Four years later, the company has grown to over 30 people, 100 customers, 90 training modules, and ten cyber exercises, but the founding principles learned from working with NATO are still followed.
