A Look Back at 2019 and the Year to Come in RangeForce

2019 was a fantastic year of growth and success for RangeForce, and it confirms the hypotheses that we (my founding team and myself) had as we worked together on the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Center of Excellence (CCDCOE) Cyber Range. The hypothesis: there is a great need and value in building an affordable, simulation-based training environment for cyber defenders.

Over the past year, RangeForce has grown into a global company with over 40 employees. In Tallinn, we moved into larger offices to support the continued growth of our team, and we opened a new office in Washington DC to buildout our North American presence. Today, the RangeForce field sales and engineering team provide services for all of North America, the UK, and Europe. Our expansion continues into Asia and the Middle East as we enter 2020.

Our engineering team delivered over 100 new training modules and CyberSiege exercises, and we matured our development process so that we can provide a continuous stream of content to our clients. Beyond expanding our current SOC, DevOps, and Web Application training tracks, watch in 2020 for new tracks and modules covering Cloud/Hybrid environments and Industrial Control Systems (ICS).

Back in the spring, we partnered with Paladin Capital Group and Trind Ventures, taking our first major outside investment to support our aggressive product development and growth plans. We had the pleasure of adding Gibb Witham, Senior Vice President at Paladin Capital Group, to our board of directors. We also grew our strategic advisory team by adding famed security researcher, Charlie Miller, and former Deputy Director of the National Security Agency, Chris Inglis. Watch our press releases over the coming weeks for more exciting news as we continue to build out this critical team that works closely with us to refine company and product strategy.

We also expanded our executive leadership team by adding Gordon Lawson, President, and Chief Revenue Officer, Will Munroe, VP of Marketing, and Sam Hahn, VP of Finance. This team will execute our global go to market vision and work to increase investments in our company to support future growth. The team wasted no time in getting to work as our annual bookings jumped by over 400%, tripling our customer base with demand coming across all different industries.

Watch for more amazing execution in 2020. Beyond a robust pipeline and new advisors, our engineering team has been working closely with our customers to deliver version 2.0 of the RangeForce CyberSkills Platform. The new platform will be launched in the first quarter and includes both backend upgrades to improve performance and UI and usability enhancements to improve the user’s learning experience.

As I read back over this blog and consider all that we accomplished, RangeForce had a fantastic 2019. I want to personally thank my entire team for their hard work and excellent execution, and our amazing customers who have taken the time to deliver the feedback we need to continue to provide a valuable solution. May 2020 be a safe and prosperous year for us all!
